DID YOU HEAR OUR NEWS??!
We have been recognised as the Lifetime Achievement award-winner in Cycling UK’s Cyclist Café of the Year 2020!
It was a slow Monday in December when I received a message from cycling uk asking me to ring them. Straight away I rang back, to be told the news (which simply SHOCKED us) that we had won an award. In 2018 and 2019 we received a shortlist award but to go one better after such a tough year means so much to all of us!
I must thank the team that has worked so hard to make 2020 operate as successfully as it has…
Ellie- (yes that’s me!) Planned the how to open up safely in the lockdown
Maddey- (My sister) Every weekend Maddey worked at the tearoom and kept everyones spirits up with her on the spot dance routines!
Liz- (My mum) stepped up to help in the tearoom when we realised that households should not mix in the workplace. She help with everything from cleaning, making sandwiches, baking scones and soup on demand. She made an effort to talk and get to know every person that came through our doors.
David- (My dad) slowly moved from 10am coffee tester to cleaner, doorman and emergency bread buyer!
Eloise- Joined us in the summer when her sisters left for university. Even though she is only 15 she fitted in straight away. Week on week our rules changed and Eloise had no trouble keeping up. (And no she is NOT MADDEY’S TWIN!!!)
Jane- Jane makes are soups which we all can agree are INCREDIBLE! Thank you for stepping in to work whenever we need you!
Citrine- The lovely Gillian and Olivia bake the majority of our cakes fresh for us each week. In my opinion, the best in the business!
Hilda- is always there to bounce ideas off, thanks for always listening. If you were lucky enough to have our special ‘Lemon Curd Scone’ you should be thanking Hilda!
There are so many people we can thank for this award. From Ann and the girls she trained 20 years ago to the cyclists who support me every single week.
This award is for us all!
